A New 'Vibe' coming to Marysville.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development, Peter Ryan, joinedMember for Seymour, Cindy McLeish, in Marysville this week to announce the winning consortium that will develop and operate the new Marysville Hotel and Conference Centre.
Mr Ryan said the project's Expression of Interestphase drew a strong response from developers and hotel operators for the $28 million development that wound assist Marysville economic recovery following the 2009 bushfires.
"After a comprehensive evaluation and negotiation process, it's my great pleasure to announce that Melbourne Civic City Property in partnership swith Toga Pty Ltd and Metier3 Architects has been chosen to develop and operate the new Marysville Hotel and Conference Centre," Mr Ryan said.
The proposal includes the development of the Vibe Hotel & Conference Centre Marysville, which will be operated by the internationally recognised Toga Hospitality Group, responsible for Medina Apartment Hotels, Vibe Hotels, Travelodge Hotels and Adina Apartment Hotels.
"This exiting project will create 85 new full time jobs over the construcion phase and is expected to support 60 full time jobs in the community within five years," Mr Ryan said.
Ms McLeish said the Victorian Government was providing $19 million towards the Centre which would include a 100 room, minimum 4 star hotel, conferencing facilities and assosiated spaces for a minimum of 300 people.
"Dining options will include a new cafe/restaurant and a seperate pup space, a new day spa and associated recreational facilities for hotel guests," Ms McLeish said.
"Located in the heart of the town, this development will add character, quality and social benefit to Marysville and at the same time provide a tangible economic stimulous to tourism and private sector business investment right across the region."
As part of the planning consideration, a public exhibition of the plans for the Centre will go on display from the 1st November to the 7th December 2012, with comments able to be submitted to Regional Development Victoria (RDV).
RDV will also arrange an Open Day in November where the local community can meet with the architect and associated project team to discuss the plans.
Pending a satisfactory planning consideration, construction of ther facilities is expected to start in mid 2013 and be completed towards the end of 2014.
